An IPA is an Independent Physicians Association. It is a legal corporation formed by independent physicians for the purpose of providing a unified voice for its members. The IPA provides valuable services that enable its members to maintain their autonomy.
Becoming a member of CPA is a process that starts with contacting the CPA staff to receive a “Request for Membership Form” and “Uniform Managed Care Application”. After summiting the required application and documents (copies of DEA, Medical License, etc.), your application will be reviewed by the CPA Board of Directors and CPA Credentials Committee.
Members pay annual participation dues, which may vary from year to year. Please contact us for the current CPA dues structure.
You do not have to use the preferred vendors that have agreements with CPA. By using the CPA preferred vendors you will received substantial discounts and savings for your practice.
Participation in the CPA insurance contracts is not required. As a member of an independent physicians association, you have the freedom to opt-in or opt-out of the negotiated contracts. However, most members choose to participate in all of the CPA contracts due to the terms of the contracts, which are aimed to protect the physicians and their patients, while providing a better mechanism for enhanced compensation.
